The Sock Monster Under the Bed
by Sarah Leslie
Socks disappearing every day
Off the floors, out of hampers
The sock monster finds a way
After chewing holes to make sure
One more sock is gone
The monster piles them under bed
To help make a cozy home
Every night the monster comes
And eats a needed sock
Morning comes and the faithful dog
Wakes with the clock
Jumping on the bed to let them know
Where each sock corpse lays
Amazingly she finds each one
And watches it all day
The next night when the monster comes
She'll be ready for him
No sock monster will get her socks
Until she puts holes in them!

Portrait of Old Dog
by Taylor Graham
He's reached his golden
hours, who lies here on his priceless spine
thanks to the best veterinary medicine
money could buy
for a hero who's saved
a hundred tennis balls in his time.
This new green fuzzy one
meant for back-and-forth
courting, this ball
the sweet young bitch his love
covets from between his paws
as he lies at my feet
a lion in his sober golden
grayness, his vigilant ears

Richard's Garnet Gizmo
by Richard Brooks
My Giz is a whiz
He's best at magic
things disappear
Aginer and dentures
shoes, bags and plastic
all things are eaten
without any katsup
no matter how crafty
we are at hiding
he seeks 'til he dines
the Vet just keeps laughing
all of the time
your dobie is fine
it'll just take time.
