Mac, Maynard, and Harry aren't show dogs. Big Mac's the only one who's ever been in a competitive event: he won second place for Best Behaved pet in a local Pet Awareness Day contest back in 1992. His red ribbon is still on our refrigerator -- next to our favorite Charles Barsotti "Pup" cartoon and a Far Side card showing a nervous little dog preparing for his day (in front of an expresso machine).
